Lessons of Yellow Hue

Remember that song that came out about 15 years ago that goes something like
"Look at the stars
Look how they shine for you
And everything you do
Yeah they were all yellow"
Yup. The corny song performed by Coldplay is so powerful yet simple. The color yellow, which is often correlated with exaggeration, madness, or mixing, suddenly becomes a beautiful word in this song. Why?
It might be my exaggeration or simply my love to analyze things and apply them to my life that pushed me to accept my yellow looking skin when I looked at some flowers my mother had received not too long ago-- I have a yellow undertone (unlike some people who have pink). While this is no problem for me at all, this shift of seeing my yellow hue as beautiful led me to think of how reinventing the meaning of a word, whatever it might be, is powerful and an empowering act.
Whether you have been called stingy, annoying, fake, fat, ugly etc. hear it, take it in, but after you have taken it all in (as painful as it might be) take those words and redefine them. Yes!  Make those words beautiful by being a beautiful caring person. Accept them with open arms and see them in a brighter light. Sure, some of them can be changed if YOU want them to. If not, that's okay but don't evade them empower them to empower you.
Anger is a prevalent emotion to feel in times desperation and helplessness. Sadly, being angry leads for bad outcomes. You begin to take irrational decisions driven solely by a negative emotion. When you see the world in a different light you won't ignore that which is good and plenty. With that said, hold these feelings high and release them. Release them with passion, give them your best effort to prove yourself right of what truly makes you, YOU.
I might be mad, but I am not lost in my madness.

Remember. Take those words that have offended you and turn them into a strength. Let these words not have power over you but you over them, make them yours by first accepting them and then reinventing them. No, its not easy. But its doable.
Until Next Time,
Ria
