Take the Shot

My other half reminded me of the importance of taking the shot. It sounds alcoholic, but those are not the shots I mean. He began telling me about his idea of a toy, and how for a moment he was afraid to share it with his boss. He suddenly remembered a quote said by Wayne Gretzky: You Miss 100% of the shots you don't take.
Simple as that, he walked directly to his boss and told him his wonderful idea. His boss, deeply interested in his contribution, listened carefully. Without remorse, my other half walked back to work and continued on with his day.
But there is one thing, I've always been shy, terribly shy actually. I love to talk and be loud around those I know, but meeting new souls is a bit of a struggle after a not so wonderful experience (I'm still getting over it and of course learning from it). However, recently a lot of things have begun to fall in place, not necessarily where I would like for them to be but surely where they are meant to. This quote has shown me that my fear keeps me from doing things that could ultimately affect my future.  Affect my life. When you think about it, that is absolutely crazy. I say this as I have benefited from listening to wise words of individuals who are no longer here, but still continue on having an influence.
I am a true testament that not taking the shot could, indeed, affect your life. I had a situation where if I wouldn't have spoken out, I would not be as calm and relieved as I am now. Because I decided to take the shot (even thought I was unsure on whether or not I would score) I was able to keep a piece of my heart closer to me. I kept my family from further ache. Really... it was as simple as that. Of course, I am not proclaiming that this will solve your problems. No. What I am saying is that the outcome of your wise and fearless decision to take the shot can and will change your life forever.
Go ahead.
