Rokinnon 85mm 1.4

A few months ago I bought a 35mm Nikon lens because it has such a beautiful way to create portraits and all sorts of moments. This time, I decided to buy an even better portrait lens. However, the catch is truly in the fact that this lens is completely manual. I don't really mind the fact that is manual, but honestly its hard to get it right without you looking at your screen constantly to have the subject in focus.
I bought this lens from a Facebook page that deals with used gear available for sale. I was a bit hesitant to buy from a complete stranger, especially from Facebook! But in the end I trusted my gut and bought this from a sweet woman. This lens is a bargain! This lens is originally around $300 but compared to the Nikon (and even Cannon) lenses, you are basically saving almost a thousand dollars... Really?! ONE K! That is almost enough to buy another decent body. Anyway, the point of the matter is that I really love this lens, it has amazing bokeh and its pretty sharp (of course, if you get the subject in focus).
The box in which this lens comes in is pretty decent, the lens, however, is another story. The first time I held it I was surprised at how heavy it was compared to my other Nikon lenses. It doesn't necessarily bother me, but it was a surprise. The glass of this lens was big and for some reason beautiful because it opens up to f1.4. The grip to focus is soft and moves slowly so you are able to focus as accurate as possible.
Overall, I think my investment on this lens was truly worth it. It makes beautiful portraits and its at a great price.
All the images were taken with my 35mm lens. I like the smooth yummy look to it. Hum.. I just said that because I might be a little hungry.
Happy Friday,
